Yesterday's account was a bit jumbled and lacking details. First, I waited too long to write it and couldn't remember bird details. Second, I was tired from a long day. Third, too much going on around me and I couldn't concentrate. This morning I have peace and quiet, so hopefully I will do better.
Our bird walk group went across the lake towards the fissures. The veeries were going full force. We saw and heard a really good chestnut sided. It was a very good walk.
Breakfast: oatmeal and "egg Mcmuffins" ala Jane. We taked about a lot of her recipes coming from the "Three Rivers Cookbook" from Pittsburth. I'll have to try to get a hold of it.
At 10:00 we loaded into the van. We made stops to try to pick up birds we hadn't seen and some particular plants. I saw and heard a grasshopper. sparrow. Also Cindy and I got a Henslow's sparrow.
We also got a close look at some wind turbines! I think they have a sinister look about them.

We had lunch in Mill Race Park. Pita Sandwiches of chicken salad or roast beef, nuts, cookies, plums and apples.
Then it was on to Fernow Experimental Forest to see running buffalo clover. It was so beautiful there I would have loved to stay and hike for the day.
We ended up at Lindy Point to enjoy the spectacular view. No black vultures though.
We cooked out at Blackwater Falls: kielbasa or hotdogs, veggies, pasta salad, chips and killer brownies. While we were eating, it began to look threatening and just as we finished, it began to pour. What a fast clean-up we did! On the way home we saw a beautiful rainbow, but back at camp the rain continued off and on, which made for an early night.
