West Virginia Day. Wet this morning after last night's rain, but with the promise of another good day. On the bird walk we went down past the horse farm. Got a good look at a kestral.
We left for Cathedral at 10:00. It was beautiful there.

We walked through the forest and to a meadow on the other side. We heard magnolia warblers which sounded to me like the last half of a hooded song. After lunch we explored the forest more thoroughly. Michelle and Bob found a nesting acadian fly catcher. We saw fantastic shelf fungus and some giant hemlocks.
Bob and Michele and I got lost and had to walkie-talkie the folks in the parking lot to blow their horn so we could find our way back!
Dinner: Ribs, potatoes, corn, salad and peach cobbler.
After dinner Steph borrowed Zack's kayak and we had a really nice float trip on the lake. We saw green herons. We got back just in time for campfire. Cold overnight!
