How to Find Us

Oglebay Institute's Mountain Nature camp is located on the shores of Lake Terra Alta approximately one mile northeast of the town of Terra Alta in Preston County, West Virginia.

From the Northeast and Northwest via I-68:

Take exit 23/Bruceton Mills -this will put you on SR 26. Turn south (toward Kingwood) and take this road 13 miles south to the town of Albright. At this point you will bear to the left and onto County Route 712 Cadell/St. Joe Road. DO NOT cross the Cheat River at Albright.

Follow Cadell/St. Joe Road along the Cheat River for 3 miles. At this point it intersects SR 7. Turn left up Briery Mountain. Go 8 miles to the town of Terra Alta. Go most of the way through town and look for the Banks on the left at the intersection of SR 7 and CR 47 which is also Toy Street.

Turn left on to Toy Street and proceed approximately .50 miles to the Terra Alta Lake Road.Here you will turn right and proceed for about 3/10 of a mile to a gated lane on the left.

From the Southeast and Southwest via US 219 and US 50:

From US 50 West or East turn North onto US 219 (in Maryland, just east of the WV state line). Follow US 219 approx 10 miles to the town of Oakland, Maryland.

At East Oak Street in Oakland US 219 turns right, but don't turn. Go straight through the traffic light and over the arch bridge which crosses over the railroad tracks. You are now on SR 39.

Follow Maryland SR 39 to the West Virginia line - approximately 6 miles. At this point Maryland SR 39 become West Virginia SR 7.

Follow SR 7 approximately 4 miles to Toy Street and turn right. Follow above directions from this point.
